Underwater Noise Prediction

During the years, actors in the shipbuilding industry, and not only, have focused more and more on noise issues and problems due to human operations in the marine environment, with the purpose of protecting the operators themselves and the wild sea life.
Indeed, some Classification Societies have developed dedicated class notations to control and minimize underwater noise propagation.
Our company does not want to be outdone in this mission and, by means of its specific competences in the field of underwater noise, it strives to provide its personal contribution.

Going into the substance of the underwater noise analysis, it can be demonstrated that the noise levels, mainly caused by exhaust gas and propellers and structure borne noise radiated by the structure, can be predicted through an adequate hydro-acoustic interaction. The first step is performing a hydrodynamic CFD simulation and afterwards the obtained calculation results are used as input data in the acoustic model calculation.

The underwater noise analysis shows its direct and tangible benefits in terms of:
